Here is another option to work around the problem.

Open the attached mpc file below then go to file and make a new design. Next copy the fonts that you need from one virtual board to the other. Once you get a word laid out the way you like highlight it and right click on it and select group. Now you can re-size the group to the desired size.
Same end result as having Centerline Text.

Afraid not. The other text tools in Designer are in RASTER format.

You could do vector drawings in a different software package and then convert it to the CW with AI2MPC. It will preserve the vectors and allow you to then assign a VBit and carve it then. It would be much faster carving than raster format too.

Look for AI2MPC Version 0.30 and read up on that. Then look for a free Vector drawing program. I haven't looked for one as I have Corel Draw and use it for editing.

edit: Here is a list of free vector editors. I don't have any recommendations as I have not used them.
Wiki Vector Editors

Here is the link to AI2MPC. Be sure to scroll to the bottom for version 0.30. READ THE DOCS too!
AI2MPC

BTW. When saving the Vector file you MUST save or export it in .AI format (Adobe Illustrator). AI (AI format) 2 (MPC) CW format.

Hope this helps,
Trying to do some sign carving. Would love to have
CC centerline text tool, but I'm retired and on a fixed budget
and 100 bucks for soft ware seems a little steep.

Question, can I just use a 60 deg bit with the regular text
format? I would like to try this. Has anyone else tried it?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

That's a good one. Will have to remember it. You should post that on CraftWright.net in the humor section.

FYI: Just returned from shopping. Loaded up with all the goodies and then some that you recommended. All set for next week.

As for comparison factors, you use car stuff vs nursing stuff. I often find myself having to explain to novices computers and electronics so have come up with water analogies. Example: Electrical systems are like plumbing systems. The wire is the pipe.
A diode is like a gate valve. A capacitor is like a temporary resivor. A resistor is like a smaller pipe fitted to a bigger pipe. And so forth.

Data in a computer is like a bag of black and white marbles. Each marble is a bit, either Black or white with white representing the value of 0, while black = the numarical value of 1. 2 or more bits (marbles) = a byte or a string of numerical data which can be stated as either a byte or word of data. 4 marbles = a 4 bit word or byte 8 marbles = an 8 bit word or byte. And so on.

There you go, getting me on my soap box again.

And check out the contest notice under announcements. You could win $100

The issue is most likely with your provider and not you. When you login via DSL, are you connecting using the software that they gave you, or are you connecting direct using your own system settings?

In either case, suggest you contact your DSL provider customer support so that they can check both our pc settings and their settings for your account.

I'm using DSL from AT&T, but use my own settings to access the Internet. I ditched their software as it puts you in a box and that box is their box, and just like CW, you have to play nice by their rules.

Going direct without their software is like being a "FREE RANGE HIPPEE" the way I was back in the 60's and still am to a degree today. But not as wild. But, occasionally, my independence kicks in and I find myself standing before the mast for yet another kangaroo court style meeting with the boss's...Say La V....

Anyhow, contact customer support for your DSL service provider. And when I get there next week, if you wish, I will gladly have a look see under your pc hood.

You like to turn wrenches, I turn diodes and resistors. In a way, we are sort of alike. And just in case your wondering. I have a mechanic work on my car. Unless it has a slot for a key to fit into and turn, I'm lost, unless it's a 56 Chevy. That I can take apart in my sleep, but getting it back together again . . . I may need some help figuring out what to do with all the extra parts. :)-D

FYI for all that read this. Connection issues. With few exceptions in today's web, connectivity is rarely an issue with a web site itself, but rather the path to that site from a given location. Just think of the web as a gigantic freeway system with on ramps and off ramps every 100 feet from NY to LA and back. If traffic is light, no issues. But when it comes time to go home, or go to work, guess what. And if you are in the wrong lane in heavy traffic, you may miss your exit and have to take the next one doubling back to get to your destination. Every once in a while someone wrecks out and blocks the flow of traffic or a signal light at an on Ramp fails to function as designed. I could go on for hours, but you get the picture.

Every car on the freeway is someones pc logged into the web attempting to go places. Every interchange is someones router connected to the internet, and every stop light at or just past the interchanges are DNS (Domain Name Servers).

If only those who had a real need to be on the freeway, used the freeway, traffic would move right along. That's average you and me, plus legitimate commercial traffic such as UPS, etc.

But mixed in there are the joy riders, teens out for a joy ride, etc. The spammers and porn providers. And they, my friends, are the real cause for your internet woes. Get rid of the spammers, porn sites, and hackers, your internet connection would be so fast, your head would come off. In fact, you could in theory, use a commodore 64 with a 1200 bd modem and connect like it was fiber on a Cray.

However, once in a while, your car does break down and need service. And likewise, so does your pc and more often then not, the company that provides you with the roadway from your driveway to the freeway.

Sooooo . . . learning little tricks on how to make quick checks to see where the problem is such as ping and trace route coupled with a bottle of your favorite white lightening and a whole lot of patents, will eventually get your there.

Take it from someone that has been doing this since 1994 when it took an hour to upload a 10K page on a good day.

Happy trails . . .

And now for the commercial . . . if you like my response and found it useful and want to know more, goto my forum at [CraftWrite.net] and leave me a message in the Welcome section under Admins Corner.

Quote
PCW
Hess, I love you guy's from Texas and the way you think.:)-D Here in Michigan it is real easy to get a CCW. I have had a one for over 30 years now.

I keep a CCW but dont need it I still have my Powers of Arrest till I die that allows CC most any places. I'm waiting for open carry like in MO that was the neatest thing seeing folks carry. bet they never got mugged

I do like the way TX thinks if you are there at night you are in season if someone is messin around the place next door some thing from back in the old cattle days a land holder has the right to protect at night.

Now during the day we are spose to let them seal the car or what ever but you do want to be careful walking up at night

I'm hoping TX will pull back out of the Union one day. and I'm from IA and the figgicn whole state voted for BO No it is not a race thing but I think it could become on
